Who We Are
The Maine Baseball Academy is a division of the Alfond
Youth Center and countries
largest Boys and Girls Club located in Waterville, Maine.
Continuing the mission of affording boys and girls the
finest opportunities for personal, spiritual and athletic growth, Maine
Baseball Academy was created as a Flag Ship program.
Billionaire Philanthropist Harold Alfond
Harold Alfond's dream was to create opportunities for kids to enjoy and
grow from being involved in the wholesome outlet and character builder
of sports and in particular baseball.
Here is the STORY of Little Fenway Park in
Oakland, Maine and why it is the monument to this man's
"Field of Dreams".
CEO and Executive Director Ken Walsh
Ken excels at everything he does from martial arts to his time as a professional
baseball player and coach. His special passion for this camp and the facilities
will be immediately evident when families and players are overwhelmed by the
unique experience he has spear headed to make available for the youth around
the world.
Camp Director John Markoe
John ,who was a 25 veteran Director of Residential and Adventure Camp Programs
of the prestigious Good Will-Hinckley School, brings all his experiences of caring
for and guiding the youth of America. His high level of passion for the overnight
camp experience assures parents that their child will be safe, happy and enriched.
Coach
Greg King
Coach King just completed his 13th season as the head baseball coach for
Thomas College. King played baseball at the University of Maine under legendary
coach John Winkin. In 1996, King was an assistant coach for the Bangor Blue
Ox of the Northern Independent League and he coached in the prestigious Cape
Cod Baseball League as an assistant and as a Field Manager for seven years.
A three-time conference Coach of the Year, King has led the Terriers to four
Conference Championships, winning three. King’s passion is to help improve
the quality of baseball throughout the state of Maine, especially the Central
Maine area.
Barry Jordan
The campers are in for a real treat, as Barry Jordan will be on site to answer
questions, speak to the baseball players about what it is like to be at the
highest level and how to get prepared. Here is his impressive list of experiences
and credentials.

field was dedicated and named Barry Jordan Field in June, 1998
